Muhammed Saqib Sher joins the Wey Hill FC family with plans to push us to where we belong: the top of Division 2.
It’s not news to those close to our club but Radu Lungu has resigned as Wey Hill’s manager 3 months ago. It was a multitude of factors that led to his departure, some personal, some having to do with a round of bad results in October 2019. Andy remains in the club as part of the board and he is still well invested in the running of weekly football hence no goodbye’s have been said.
Since then, caretaker Doru Marin, helped by Bogdan Dogaru and Radu Lungu, took charge and tried to get us back in good shape. We can say we achieved that in a way, but still have to acknowledge that there are many things to work on.
Part of the bigger plan of us improving it was for us to bring a new face that would refresh the club and its state. Old friend, Mo has been in touch with the board and has agreed to come and take part of the Wey Hill history by becoming the first ever external manager*.
Mo comes with a great attitude, a desire to inspire and to put his mark on our club and with a hefty bag of managerial experience. He spent time with Woking Tigers, Shalford FC and, most recently, Hersham FC, a Surrey Intermediate League club. He’s also been part of the squad Wey Hill FC fielded in its first competitive season, the 2016-2017 Surrey & Hants Border League, Division 3.
I’m delighted to be joining a club I know well, and I can’t wait to help the boys. It’s going to be an exciting second half to the season and from a personal point of view it’s brilliant to be back on the touch lineMuhammed Saqib Sher – Wey Hill FC Manager
Everyone at Wey Hill wishes Mo the best of luck for the upcoming months and commits to working hard on delivering an unforgettable season.
*Wey Hill had 3 managers in the past: Radu Lungu, Doru Marin and Alex Uwins, all 3 from within the club.
